John Maxwell Coetzee was born on this day 9th February 1940.

He was the first writer to be awarded the Booker Prize twice. Nobel Prize in Literature, and the recipient of numerous awards throughout his career.

Emily Dickinson (December 10, 1830 – May 15, 1886)

Considered one of the finest American poets (and literary recluses), Dickinson wrote thousands of poems in her lifetime, though most were unpublished till after her death.
